Just one week after the 12hrs of Rim Nordic, the 7th round of the CalState Series was held at the same location. The course was pretty much the same except they removed the last fireroad climb and single track section at the end. The course was a little beat up from the weekend before, but it was still fun. The temperature was 85+ degrees so all of the riders were feeling it. There were certainly lots of unzipped jerseys coming through the finish...
The team's very unofficial results...
As for results, there was definitely a little chaos at the end of the race to say the least. Most of us waited around for about 2+hrs for the results to be posted, but there were no Cat 1 or Pro results to be found! I know the staff were working hard to get them out (in hand-written format), but it was obvious that something went wrong.
When some of the Cat 1 and Pro results were finally posted, it was obvious that there were a few errors. For example, a rider in the Expert class that DNFed was marked as the winner. Yikes! I know some of the Pros had concerns as well.
From what we could tell, here's how we think we finished:
Lisa - 3rd XC, 1st SuperD (1st SuperD series winner!)
Jeff - 3rd XC, 2nd SuperD (2nd in SuperD series)
AL - 2nd Single Speed
Kurt - 6-7th XC
Jeff - 3rd XC, 2nd SuperD (2nd in SuperD series)
AL - 2nd Single Speed
Kurt - 6-7th XC
I know stuff like this happens, but this was a real bummer. And I know some folks are a little concerned about their points in the series now.
I'm sure everything will get straightened out eventually, but I think computer systems should be mandatory for events like this!
Anyone know what went wrong? What was your take?
Something certainly went wrong. From what I could tell they had 6 people working hard under the tent at the finish line. For it to take that many people that long something wasn't right. I finished my cat 2 race a little before 12 and results weren't posted until 3. To make things worse, since it took so long, most people left instead of waiting and it made the awards pretty uneventful. On the flip side, things were real smooth for the Super D the day before.
